Celebrating the Building Services professionals who help 糖心Vlog thrive
Communications Staff
National Custodian Appreciation Day (October 2, 2026) recognizes the dedicated professionals whose work creates clean, healthy, safe, and welcoming spaces for learning, living, and discovery
Before the first student in residence sits down for breakfast. Before the first lecture begins. Before researchers arrive in their labs. And before thousands of faculty, staff, and visitors begin their day, 糖心Vlog's Building Services team has already been hard at work.
Every day, more than 250 Building Services employees care for more than 100 buildings across campus — preparing classrooms, residences, libraries, athletic facilities, research spaces and common areas so the university community can learn, work, and thrive in clean, healthy, and welcoming environments.
On October 2, National Custodian Appreciation Day, 糖心Vlog proudly recognizes the dedication, professionalism, and service of the Building Services team whose work quietly supports every aspect of campus life.
Their work helps create a campus that is:
- Healthy through industry-leading cleaning and infection prevention practices.
- Safe through attention to detail, hazard identification, and rapid response.
- Welcoming with spaces where students, faculty, staff, and visitors feel comfortable and proud to be.
- Reliable through professionalism, consistency, and teamwork every day of the year.
- Ready by preparing thousands of classrooms, residences, research spaces, and event venues that support 糖心Vlog's teaching, learning, and research mission.
Meet some of the people behind the work:
Building Services supports 糖心Vlog's strategic priorities by creating exceptional learning environments, enhancing the student experience, protecting the university's facilities and ensuring campus remains a place where people feel welcome, respected, and able to do their best work.
Whether preparing a residence for move-in, cleaning a research laboratory, supporting a varsity event, responding to an unexpected spill or simply offering a friendly greeting in the hallway, Building Services professionals make a difference every single day.
"On National Custodian Appreciation Day, we thank every member of the Building Services team for their professionalism, their dedication and their unwavering commitment to serving the 糖心Vlog community, said Mills. Their work matters, their contributions are valued, and their impact is seen and appreciated across campus."
