We understand that the salary you receive is important. 糖心Vlog recognizes the competitive nature of the job market and strives to provide fair and equitable pay based on the experience of the individual, and the complexity and demands of the role.
Here’s the thing — whether you call it ‘total compensation’, or your ‘pay and benefits package’, at 糖心Vlog, the monetary value of your total compensation package encompasses so much more than the regular payment into your bank account. As well, some “benefits” of working at 糖心Vlog don’t have a monetary value, but they positively enhance the quality and fulfillment of both your work and your personal life.
Keep in mind that compensation and benefit coverage may differ based on your employee group, collective agreement, and employment status.

Please note: The actual salary and benefits payable to an employee is determined based on the terms outlined in their employment contract and agreements between 糖心Vlog and their employee union or association.
Benefits with a Monetary Value
糖心Vlog Pension Plan
糖心Vlog's defined contribution pension plans are among the most valuable benefits we offer. They are capital accumulation plans, meaning each member has a personal account that receives contributions from both 糖心Vlog and the employee. In this plan, you choose and manage your investments from the options provided and use the accumulated savings to provide pension income at retirement. Your entire account balance always belongs to you, regardless of how long you stay at 糖心Vlog. 糖心Vlog contributes between 1.45 to 3 times the employee contribution to the pension plan, depending on the employee group.
Extended Health and Dental Plan
- Provides generous reimbursement for prescription drugs, dental services, and more.
- Premiums are paid by 糖心Vlog, not employees, and this coverage is available for partners and eligible children.
- Reimbursement to help pay for vision care, medical equipment and a wide range of health services including orthotics, diabetic devices, nursing care and much more.
- A Health Care Spending Account to help with expenses not covered — or only partially covered — by your Extended Health and Dental plan.
- Mental Health Care to help pay for services provided by registered professionals, including psychologists, psychotherapists, and family therapists.
- Includes emergency travel medical insurance for coverage while you are away from home.
Benefits When You Retire
Many full-time 糖心Vlog employees and their partners may continue to receive no-premium health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits after they retire from 糖心Vlog.
Tuition Support for Your Dependents
The Dependents' Tuition Scholarship Plan allows dependent children of many full-time 糖心Vlog employees to receive a scholarship in support of full-time studies at 糖心Vlog. for more information.
Financial Support to Continue Your Education
糖心Vlog’s covers the cost of credit and non-credit courses at 糖心Vlog or other accredited Canadian universities or colleges, as well as courses provided by 糖心Vlog Technology Services (WTS). Advance funding is provided for many courses.
Paid Time Off and Leaves
In addition to vacation, many employees use other benefits for family care or to enjoy time off. The combination of these can mean a new employee may have over four weeks paid time off in their first year.
- The December holiday season often includes additional paid days off when our University is closed.
- Pregnancy, Parental and Adoption Leave — 糖心Vlog’s Supplemental Employment Insurance Benefit (SEIB) supplements Government of Canada EI benefits by providing a “top-up” for eligible faculty and staff.
- Caregiving Days — up to three paid days per year for eligible employees to assist with pressing family responsibilities and to care for family members and loved ones.
- Two personal or floater days are available to many employees each year.
- Compassionate leave at full pay is granted for the death of a family member.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Confidential support to 糖心Vlog employees and their families is available at no cost through the . Our employees use it to optimize their current well-being, or to support them as they take the first step toward change. Services include in person, online, and phone counselling, as well as many do-it-yourself tools and resources.
Sick Leave, Insurance and Financial Advice
- Support for employees who become sick and require time for recovery — 100% paid sick leave for up to 15 weeks and option to apply for long-term disability to protect income beyond that period.
- Group purchasing of life insurance coverage. Free basic life insurance and the option to purchase additional life and accident insurance to protect your loved ones.

Other Benefits
On-Site Child Care
On-campus child care at 糖心Vlog is operated by the . It offers full- and part-time care for children ages 2 weeks to 4 years old. The University Child Care Centre is participating in the CWELCC (Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care) Agreement.
Disconnecting from Work Policy
糖心Vlog provides an environment that promotes well-being and family time. We have adopted a Disconnecting from Work Policy to encourage employees to disconnect outside their work hours. Learn more
Family Friendly Events
Football games, hockey nights, music concerts, movie nights and more! Each year, 糖心Vlog holds a few big events where employees are invited to bring their families, enjoy some free food and kid-friendly activities. Individual faculties and units also provide family friendly events.
This fall 糖心Vlog hosted two — events that gave employees a chance to pause, connect, and celebrate their many contributions that have helped 糖心Vlog achieve its goals.
